MINUTES OF NY 29 Red Knights
September 11, 2011
The regular monthly meeting of the Red Knights, NY Chapter 29 was called to order at 11:05 a.m. at the Hudson Park by President Paul Pratt. President Pratt requested a moment of silence in honor of our fallen hero's on the 10th anniversary of September 11, 2001, followed by the pledge of allegiance.
15 members answered roll call. One guest, Sean Carbine, was in attendance. The minutes were accepted by Howie Ostrowski and Mike Roper.
Correspondence – none
Treasurer's Report - There was no change to the treasurers report, with a balance of $1,965.64. One outstanding bill from the run to the home was presented for the extra chicken that was purchased. A motion to accept was presented by Mike Roper, seconded by Eugenia Browning. The motion was carried.
Officer's Report –
President Paul Pratt thanked those that were able to represent the group to remember Karen Borovich's Mother. It was much appreciated by Karen.
An application from Sean Carbine was presented for a vote by Vice President Bob Borovich after being tabled for 30 days. A motion was made by Mike Roper for acceptance, seconded by Jim Maruniak. The motion was carried, welcome to the group Sean.
Vice President Borovich also reported on the representation at the Fair Parade. We were able to lead each division of the parade.
Bingo at the Fireman's Home will be scheduled for sometime in October.
We will meet at the Chatham Firehouse this afternoon at 5:00 p.m. to go to the memorial at the 911 park in Valatie. All attending should wear black slacks, a white top and their vest.
There were no reports from the Treasurer or Secretary.
Jim Maruniak advised the group that Greg's Run will be held on September 18th at the Niverville Firehouse; Rhinebeck Ford will be having a poker run and bike show on September 25th. Also, Blackthorn is being held the week end of 9/15 – 9/18.
Unfinished Business -
Secretary Carol Goold announced that the tentative run for Marie Miano has been canceled, however, the raffle held to benefit three breast cancer survivors raised over $8,200.00
New Business – President Pratt advised the group that the theme at the 911 memorial this afternoon will be a celebration of life. Vice President Borovich advised the group that on October 14 & 15 a tattoo salon in East Greenbush will be offering a Breast Cancer Awareness tattoo for $25.00. The program is titled “Tattoo’s for Tata's”.
Good of the Chapter -
Vice President Borovich thanked all for their support during this difficult time.
There was a general discussion about the flooding during and after Hurricane Irene. Several of the group had volunteered and gone to Greene County to help out after the storm.
On October 1 there will be Chicken and Ribs at the Germantown Firehouse.
Tri-Village will be hosting a wet down for their new truck in the near future.
The next meeting will be held in Red Rock on October 9th.
Kevin Dwy announced that today was Joanne's Birthday. Happy Birthday Joanne!!!!!
A motion to adjourn was made by Howie Ostrowski, seconded by David Goold.
